Alors que j&rsquo;avan\u00e7ais \u00e0 pas de tortue sur l&rsquo;autoroute, j&rsquo;ai regard\u00e9 l&rsquo;horloge engloutir de pr\u00e9cieuses minutes de ma journ\u00e9e \u2013 une sc\u00e8ne qui se d\u00e9roulait dans des milliers de v\u00e9hicules \u00e0 travers la ville.<\/p>\n<p>Les r\u00e9centes restrictions de voies entre la rue Dufferin et l&rsquo;avenue Strachan ont r\u00e9duit ce corridor d\u00e9j\u00e0 congestionn\u00e9 \u00e0 seulement deux voies dans chaque direction, cr\u00e9ant ce que de nombreux navetteurs ont d\u00e9crit comme <b>\u00ab\u00a0un chaos total\u00a0\u00bb<\/b> pendant l&rsquo;heure de pointe matinale d&rsquo;aujourd&rsquo;hui.<\/p>\n<p>\u00ab\u00a0J&rsquo;ai \u00e9t\u00e9 coinc\u00e9e pendant une heure et vingt minutes juste pour aller de Kipling au centre-ville,\u00a0\u00bb raconte M\u00e9lissa Cheung, analyste financi\u00e8re qui pr\u00e9voit normalement 40 minutes pour l&rsquo;ensemble de son trajet. \u00ab\u00a0C&rsquo;est compl\u00e8tement insoutenable si on essaie d&rsquo;arriver au travail \u00e0 l&rsquo;heure.\u00a0\u00bb<\/p>\n<p>Les responsables municipaux ont confirm\u00e9 que les r\u00e9ductions de voies font partie du <a href=\"https:\/\/www.toronto.ca\/projects\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">projet de r\u00e9habilitation strat\u00e9gique<\/a> visant \u00e0 prolonger la dur\u00e9e de vie de l&rsquo;autoroute sur\u00e9lev\u00e9e. Les travaux comprennent des r\u00e9parations de b\u00e9ton, de l&rsquo;imperm\u00e9abilisation et des remplacements de joints \u2013 tous des entretiens n\u00e9cessaires pour une infrastructure qui accueille environ 200 000 v\u00e9hicules quotidiennement.<\/p>\n<p>Denise Crawford, porte-parole des <a href=\"https:\/\/www.toronto.ca\/transportation\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Services de transport de Toronto<\/a>, a expliqu\u00e9 que le calendrier ne pouvait \u00eatre \u00e9vit\u00e9. \u00ab\u00a0Nous comprenons la frustration, mais ces r\u00e9parations sont essentielles pour garantir que le Gardiner reste s\u00e9curitaire pour les milliers de personnes qui l&rsquo;utilisent chaque jour. Nous travaillons pour terminer cette phase le plus rapidement possible.\u00a0\u00bb<\/p>\n<p>Selon l&rsquo;analyse du trafic de la <b>Commission de transport de Toronto<\/b>, les temps de d\u00e9placement entre l&rsquo;autoroute 427 et la rue York ont augment\u00e9 de 65 % depuis le d\u00e9but des restrictions. Les routes alternatives, notamment le boulevard Lake Shore et la rue King, connaissent un important d\u00e9bordement de circulation.<\/p>\n<p>Pour les usagers du transport en commun, la situation n&rsquo;a pas \u00e9t\u00e9 bien meilleure. Plusieurs lignes d&rsquo;autobus <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gotransit.com\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">GO Transit<\/a> et <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ttc.ca\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">TTC<\/a> qui empruntent le corridor du Gardiner signalent des retards moyens de 25 \u00e0 40 minutes aux heures de pointe.<\/p>\n<p>Les commer\u00e7ants locaux pr\u00e8s de la zone de construction ressentent \u00e9galement l&rsquo;impact.
