La personne a \u00e9t\u00e9 transport\u00e9e \u00e0 l&rsquo;h\u00f4pital avec de <strong>graves blessures<\/strong>, selon la Police provinciale de l&rsquo;Ontario qui est intervenue sur les lieux.<\/p>\n<p>\u00ab\u00a0Nous enqu\u00eatons toujours pour comprendre comment le pi\u00e9ton s&rsquo;est retrouv\u00e9 sur l&rsquo;autoroute,\u00a0\u00bb a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 le sergent Kerry Schmidt de la PPO dans un communiqu\u00e9 aux m\u00e9dias. \u00ab\u00a0Ces situations sont extr\u00eamement dangereuses pour toutes les personnes impliqu\u00e9es.\u00a0\u00bb<\/p>\n<p>Quelques heures plus tard, la police a re\u00e7u des signalements concernant un autre pi\u00e9ton marchant sur les voies actives du <a href=\"https:\/\/www.toronto.ca\/services-payments\/streets-parking-transportation\/road-maintenance\/bridges-and-expressways\/expressways\/don-valley-parkway\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Don Valley Parkway<\/a> pr\u00e8s de l&rsquo;avenue Eglinton Est. Les agents ont rapidement localis\u00e9 et mis la personne en s\u00e9curit\u00e9 avant qu&rsquo;une collision ne se produise.<\/p>\n<p>Ces incidents mettent en lumi\u00e8re un probl\u00e8me de s\u00e9curit\u00e9 pr\u00e9occupant qui s&rsquo;amplifie sur le r\u00e9seau autoroutier de Toronto. L&rsquo;an dernier, le Service de police de Toronto a enregistr\u00e9 une <strong>augmentation de 12%<\/strong> des incidents impliquant des pi\u00e9tons sur les autoroutes par rapport aux ann\u00e9es pr\u00e9c\u00e9dentes.<\/p>\n<p>\u00ab\u00a0Les gens ne r\u00e9alisent pas \u00e0 quelle vitesse ces situations peuvent tourner au drame,\u00a0\u00bb explique Marisa Wong, analyste en s\u00e9curit\u00e9 des transports pour la <a href=\"https:\/\/www.coalitionsecuriteroutiere.ca\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Coalition pour la s\u00e9curit\u00e9 routi\u00e8re de Toronto<\/a>. \u00ab\u00a0Un v\u00e9hicule roulant \u00e0 vitesse d&rsquo;autoroute a tr\u00e8s peu de temps pour r\u00e9agir face \u00e0 un pi\u00e9ton, et les cons\u00e9quences sont souvent d\u00e9vastatrices.\u00a0\u00bb<\/p>\n<p>Les \u00e9v\u00e9nements du matin ont eu des effets en cascade sur l&rsquo;ensemble du r\u00e9seau de transport de la ville. La fermeture de l&rsquo;autoroute 404 a provoqu\u00e9 des bouchons sur plusieurs kilom\u00e8tres, tandis que l&rsquo;incident sur le DVP a ralenti la circulation d\u00e9j\u00e0 congestionn\u00e9e du matin.<\/p>\n<p>James Allen, porte-parole de la <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ttc.ca\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">TTC<\/a>, a not\u00e9 : \u00ab\u00a0Quand des incidents surviennent sur les autoroutes, nous observons souvent une augmentation de l&rsquo;achalandage dans les transports en commun, les navetteurs cherchant des alternatives. Hier matin, notre ligne de m\u00e9tro 1 a connu environ 8% d&rsquo;usagers de plus que la normale.\u00a0\u00bb<\/p>\n<p>Les experts en urbanisme pointent vers des probl\u00e8mes plus larges qui pourraient contribuer \u00e0 ces situations dangereuses. \u00ab\u00a0Nous devons examiner pourquoi des personnes tentent de traverser des autoroutes \u00e0 pied,\u00a0\u00bb explique Dr. Naveen Patel du D\u00e9partement d&rsquo;urbanisme de l&rsquo;Universit\u00e9 Ryerson. \u00ab\u00a0Dans certains cas, cela est li\u00e9 \u00e0 des infrastructures pi\u00e9tonni\u00e8res inad\u00e9quates reliant des communaut\u00e9s s\u00e9par\u00e9es par ces grandes art\u00e8res.\u00a0\u00bb<\/p>\n<p>Ces incidents rappellent brutalement l&rsquo;importance de l&rsquo;\u00e9ducation \u00e0 la s\u00e9curit\u00e9 des pi\u00e9tons. La campagne <strong>\u00ab\u00a0Restez loin des autoroutes\u00a0\u00bb<\/strong> de la Ville de Toronto, lanc\u00e9e l&rsquo;\u00e9t\u00e9 dernier, vise \u00e0 sensibiliser le public aux dangers extr\u00eames auxquels s&rsquo;exposent les pi\u00e9tons lorsqu&rsquo;ils s&rsquo;aventurent sur les autoroutes.<\/p>\n<p>En couvrant cette histoire hier, j&rsquo;ai \u00e9t\u00e9 t\u00e9moin des importants embouteillages sur les routes alternatives alors que les conducteurs cherchaient des d\u00e9tours pour \u00e9viter la fermeture de l&rsquo;autoroute 404.
